Effect of bed shrinkage on iron ore sintering process

There exist complex chemical reactions and phase transition processes—melting solidification—in the iron ore sintering process. This will result in bed shrinkage has an important impact on process sinter properties. Numerical simulation was carried out this paper, it is based porous medium double-energy equation model, coupled with porosity model. The influence of explored revealed by comparing calculation results, considering neglecting shrinkage. results indicate that less highest temperature area above 0.15 m sintered but severely decreases about 60 K below m. Bed makes thickness combustion zone reduce 1.367, 1.398, 4.367 cm at 500, 1000, 1500 s, respectively. reduces vertical velocity, flue gas decreased 77 approximately; addition, also a delay 50 s to reach temperature. volume concentration SO2 remains unchanged shrinkage, maximum value.
